Career Corner - Week 19 by Lurking

I'm back!

Welcome to another edition of Career Corner! Thanks to the sterling work of Jad you've been spoiled recently with some glorious round-ups. Hopefully I can live up to the high standards as I return to guide you through the best of The Away Stand's career corner. As always, picking just a few stories out of the forum has been a really tough job, so don't be down heartened if yours isn't in this week. If you keep updating your story well & regularly, you'll get a mention eventually!

We'll start with three new stories that have recently been started by three returning members. The first is Daniel and his story with Genoa CFC. The updates are short but that's not a bad thing, Daniel is proving his managerial know-how with some impressive signings in the market and good results too.

Next up is Jackk! with From Bromley to Barcelona. So far there has been a lot more Bromley than Barca but that's to be expected as Jackk! attempts to build up his reputation at the lower league side. Having already gained one promotion, his first season in the BSP is going well and hopes are high of successive promotions up into the football league.

The final new story I want to highlight this week is Zero to Hero, a story from returning member FrazerLloyd. Having poached him back to TAS via the miracle that is Twitter, Frazer has shown why I was keen to do so with a really interesting story of the plight of a lower league manager. It was all going smoothly in his lower league Italian fixtures but I think he's jinxed himself as results have gone against him in recent times. Hopefully this will reverse the jinx & the results can get back to winning ways as he looks for promotion.

So that's three new & upcoming stories done, so now I'll pick out a couple of my favourite long term stories. Having rather gracefully deemed me part of the "Fantastic Four" in his recent updates, it's only fair that I extend that to a "Fabulous Five" as Jad and his rather catchy title Puns are for Gays reaches its 16th page of career goodness. Jad has moved on to Croatia where domestic dominance is expected but adventures in Europe are so far not proving too fruitful. Having managed in a "lesser" European league myself I know what it's like, the reputation of the league stops you bringing in the best but Jad is proving a "wheeler dealer" in the market with some astute business. I'm sure Europe will soon be cracked.

My penultimate offering in this career fest is a look at the long running career of sander177, simply titled Just a Career. Sander has kept the updates short & to the point but that doesn't mean they are not full of quality & superb results as he goes on a journeyman-esque adventure round the upper echelons of European football.

Lastly but by no means least it's weeman who gets the final shout out with his Haverfordwest County (who?!) story, Theatre of Dreams? Not Quite Yet. Weeman was taken the small Welsh side to domestic titles & cups but predictably Europe has proved a much tougher challenge. It's tough to get good players to Wales (it is Wales, after all :P) but wee man is doing a really impressive job and despite some really tough luck in the European draws, he has had some solid results.

And with that, my look at the career corner comes to an end. Someone shall be back next week to take you through the growing brilliance of our career corner section, as with so many great stories it's hard to keep up!
